Judah on what it means to be "poor in spirit"
Today was Judah's first full day in kindergarten (we decided to make the switch on a trial basis), and the principal invited Diana to sit in on the class during the transition. It's a Christian school, so the teacher told a Bible story and asked if the kids knew what it means to be "poor in spirit." Judah volunteered to explain. Diana told me this is what he said:
Poor is when, "You don't have enough money or a home or enough food." Poor in spirit is when, "You don't have enough in your spirit and you need stuff in your spirit and that's why you're blessed because you know you need God.""We have a pastor in the class," the teacher responded. To wit, Judah said: "Yep. That's what I want to be, a pastor." The one challenge is that Judah has not yet embraced the idea that school is an everyday commitment (it didn't help that he got strep throat in week two and missed 3 days). Even though he's academically and socially ready for kindergarten, he would prefer to be with mommy or daddy at some point each day. My mother tells me I had the same issues a couple of weeks after starting kindergarten, so we're not too concerned. We'll see how it goes.

Hey Jeremy, I didn't know you had your own Web Page. That is very cool. Can't believe how much Judah has grown. I don't know what your doing in raising this kid(maybe he's been eating his christian wheaties or something) but keep doing it. See ya around.
