Congrats, Cortes!
One of Generation Xcel's primary funders the past two years has been the federal Compassion Capital Fund via Nueva Esperanza, a financial intermediary run by Rev. Luis Cortes of Philadelphia. Today's New York Times profiles Esperanza in "Hispanic Group Thrives on Faith and Federal Aid":
"Although a national study of the compassion fund is still under way, an evaluation of Nueva Esperanza's work offered good marks."It's an ambitious article -- mixing Latino politics, evangelical Christianity, and Bush bashing -- and a fascinating read.

News does spread quickly indeed...i like the honesty of the article, it was pretty reflective of some of the stuff we've experienced here in NYC...
