Innocent Voices - Coming October 14th to select cities nationwide
Today, over
300,000 children fought as armed
soldiers in forty countries, a global epidemic that shames all of us.
Innocent Voices, directed by Luis Mandoki, tells their story through the eyes of Chava, a 12 year old boy compelled into military duty during El Salvador's protracted civil war in the 1980s.
I had the privilege of attending an advance screening of the movie last night at Tribeca Cinemas. Based on the true story of screenwriter Oscar Torres, the film is raw without being gory and heroic without oversimplying the issues. Most importantly, it brilliantly depicts the anguish, fear, and trauma imposed on children at war.
Innocent Voices has to be seen! It opens in limited release around the country on October 14. Check your local listings, and make every effort to attend. A good box office will widen release.
